Eligibility Requirements and Best Practices

Georgetown alumni are eligible to serve as interviewers with the Alumni Admissions Program (AAP) if they:

• Are graduates from one of Georgetown’s four undergraduate schools, or one of our graduate, law, or medical degree programs.
• Are committed to reviewing all training materials on their AAP Portal and AAP Best Practices policies.
• Are willing to conduct interviews without discrimination based on age, race, religion, sex, disability, familial status, family responsibilities, gender identity or expression, national origin, immigration status, personal appearance, political affiliation, sexual orientation, veteran status, or any other factor prohibited by law.
• Adhere to the Protection of Minors Policy as required by Georgetown University and the Office of Undergraduate Admissions.
• Adhere to the Data Confidentiality Agreement of the Office of Undergraduate Admissions.
• Are able to discuss the Georgetown undergraduate experience and refer prospective students to appropriate resources as needed.
• Agree to not interview applicants attending the same school as a member of the interviewer’s immediate family.
• Agree to not interview an applicant whom the interviewer knows.

Alumni are not eligible to serve as interviewers if their activities, affiliations, or actions pose a conflict of interest. Conflicts of interest include:

• Working as a private educational/college consultant or providing services related to the college application process, such as test preparation, application assistance or review, essay writing, etc.
• Conducting interviews for another undergraduate institution during the same admissions cycle.
• Interviewing students whom they know or are from schools where the interviewer is employed or volunteers.

Important Note: Members will notify the AAP if they commit or witness any breach of the above expectations. Any member found in violation of the Eligibility Requirements or Best Practices Policies is subject to dismissal from the AAP.
